Knowing Your Products

If you’re thinking of purchasing timber shutter or venetian blinds, don’t leave yourself exposed. It pays to do your research and get some professional advice so you can make an informed decision.

Gotcha Covered Timber Shutters have a team of experienced specialists who are qualified cabinet makers or carpenters, so they really know their timbers.

Gotcha Covered have a range of different timbers and products to cater to all from the budget conscious to the more discerning clients who simply want the best quality they can buy.

Western Red Cedar

Western Red Cedar has been a popular choice for shutters and blinds in the past. There are several grades. The grade of Cedar Gotcha Covered offer is “Furniture” grade and used in the crafting of fine furniture. Western Red Cedar is a soft timber by nature yet stable, with width spans up to 1.3 meters. This makes it ideal for wide or high windows where a single shutter may be used instead of two or more. Using this fine quality timber, Gotcha Covered skilled craftsmen can craft, shape, angle or curve shutters for more unusual windows or spaces, giving customers a choice of either a flat blade or an elliptical blade. Western Red Cedar copes extremely well with damp or wet areas and it is also one of the few timbers that can handle our Australian climate, inside or out.

Finally, Cedar has a distinct grain and a variety of rich colours from honey to sunset red through to deep chocolate and can be manufactured in around six weeks.

Basswood

Basswood shutters are an affordable hardwood shutter. Excellent for staining or lime washing. Basswood shutters are very solid, stable and strong but they do have some limitations in width and height. Gotcha Covered uses a unique construction method that will utilize Basswood to ensure a maximum width of 1.1m, depending on the blade size. Basswood shutters are available in a flat blade or an elliptical blade. The leadtime is generally six weeks for Basswood shutters.
